About SSC

NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC), located in Hancock County, Mississippi, has served as NASA's rocket propulsion testing ground for more than 40 years. With three state-of-the-art test stand complexes, SSC is at the forefront of the NASA mission and makes major contributions to the safety and success of our space endeavors. In addition to SSC's rocket propulsion activities, the center plays an important role in NASA's Applied Science and Technology program. SSC's sprawling, 125,000 acre site and buffer-zone is home to more than 30 federal, state, academic and private organizations and numerous technology-based companies, which creates opportunities for collaboration among agencies. NASA and tenant organization employees total approximately 5,200 personnel.
